I am an artist based in Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand. My work begins with paying attention—to places, objects, landscapes, and the small details of everyday life that often go unnoticed. Through painting, textiles, stitching, and mixed media, I explore the traces people leave behind and the stories held within the things that surround us.
Born in New Orleans and raised in New York and the northeastern United States, I travelled extensively before making New Zealand my home. Experiences of movement, belonging, and place continue to shape my practice and my interest in how people connect to the environments they inhabit.
I am drawn to subjects that carry evidence of use, repair, care, and history. Coastal baches, familiar landmarks, inherited objects, and everyday materials often become starting points for my work. What interests me is not nostalgia, but the ways people create meaning through the places they return to, the things they keep, and the lives they build around them.
Painting, stitching, layering, and assemblage allow me to explore these ideas through processes of construction, alteration, and accumulation. I am interested in how materials can carry meaning and how close attention can transform ordinary subjects into something newly visible.
At the heart of my practice is connection—to people, place, memory, and the world around us. Making is a way of looking more closely, asking questions, and finding significance in what might otherwise be overlooked.
